Partisan lines divide how immigration is viewed

The share of Americans who favor increased legal immigration into the U.S. has risen according to a new survey by Pew Research Center, conducted June 5-12 . “The shift is mostly driven by changing views among Democrats. Republicans’ views have also changed, though more modestly. Twice as many Republicans (33%) as Democrats (16%) support cutting legal immigration into the U.S. ” conclude the authors of “Shifting Public Views on Legal Immigration into the U.S.” published by the Pew Research Center.
