SYDNEY (AP) — Australia pace bowler Josh Hazlewood has been ruled out of next week’s second cricket test against India with a side strain injury.

The 33-year-old Hazlewood, who took match figures of 5-57 from 34 overs in Australia’s heavy 295-run defeat in the fist test at Perth, has had recent issues with side strains that has seen him play only four tests in the past two years.

Scott Boland, who was 12th man for the first test, is the bowler most likely to replace Hazlewood for the day-night test in Adelaide starting Friday.

Uncapped seamers Sean Abbott and Brendan Doggett have been called into the squad as cover, Cricket Australia said on Saturday.

Hazlewood’s latest setback is not expected to prevent him playing a part later in the five-test series, but adds pressure to an Australia team already closely monitoring the fitness of allrounder Mitch Marsh, who has an ankle complaint.

Beau Webster was brought into the squad as cover for Marsh on Thursday.
