Fiorentina beats Inter Milan 3-0 in game rearranged after a player collapsed on field
FLORENCE, Italy (AP) — Defending champion Inter Milan missed the chance to move level at the top of the Serie A after a 3-0 loss to Fiorentina on Thursday.
Two goals from Moise Kean after Luca Ranieri’s opener secured the win that lifted Fiorentina to fourth.
Inter remains second and three points behind leader Napoli after losing for just the second time in the league this season.
The match was rescheduled from December when midfielder Edoardo Bove collapsed on the field.
Two months after that harrowing incident, Bove was on the Fiorentina bench Thursday to support his teammates. The 22-year-old Bove had to have a heart defibrillator implanted.
Bove collapsed on the field in the 16th minute of the original meeting, in front of distraught fans and players, as medics rushed onto the field to treat him before he was taken to a hospital and put in a medically induced coma.
Fiorentina has honored his loan deal from Roma but Bove is set to return to the Italian capital at the end of the season and would have to leave Italy to continue playing if test results show he has to keep the defibrillator permanently, as there are stringent health rules governing sport in the country.
