“Conclave” author Robert Harris isn’t staying up to watch the Oscars. The British writer of the papal thriller, which the movie with eight Academy Award nominations is based on, will be in a different time zone.

‘Conclave’ triumphs at SAG Awards, Timothée Chalamet wins best actor

The papal thriller “Conclave” won best ensemble at the 31st Screen Actors Guild Awards, a surprise twist that added one final wrinkle in an unusually unpredictable awards season. In winning the guild’s top award Sunday, Edward Berger’s Vatican-set drama triumphed just as the Catholic Church was praying for the health of Pope Francis. Timothée Chalamet won best male actor, upsetting Adrien Brody and putting the 29-year-old on course to possibly win his first Oscar. Demi Moore won best actress.
