Portugal’s president dissolves parliament and calls an early election after prime minister quit

Portuguese President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa has announced he’s dissolving the nation’s parliament and calling an early election two days after Prime Minister António Costa resigned with his government tainted by a corruption scandal.

Second night of clashes between police and residents after fatal police shooting

The outskirts of Portuguese capital of Lisbon saw two nights of unrest after the fatal shooting by police of a Black man. Late on Tuesday, residents of a greater Lisbon neighbourhood set a bus and rubbish on fire. Police have also reported stones and projectiles being thrown at them.
