MLB — Suspended Washington Nationals RHP Jorge Lopez for three games and fined him an undisclosed amount for intentionally throwing at Andrew McCutchen of the Pittsburgh Pirates in the bottom of the seventh inning of Wednesday night’s game at PNC Park. In addition, Nationals manager Dave Martinez has received a one-game suspension and an undisclosed fine as a result of Lopez’s actions.

American League

CHICAGO WHITE SOX — Selected the contract of C Edgar Quero from Charlotte (IL). Reinstated OF Andrew Benintendi from the 10-day IL. Optioned OF Greg Jones to Charlotte. Designated C Omar Narvaez for assignment.

MINNESOTA TWINS — Activated 1B Jonah Bride. Placed OF Matt Wallner on the 10-day IL.

SEATTLE MARINERS — Recalled RHP Emerson Hancock from Tacoma (PCL). Optioned RHP Will Klein to Tacoma.
