Montana approves RV park near Glacier National Park

WEST GLACIER, Mont. (AP) — Montana regulators have approved water and wastewaters systems to support a planned recreational vehicle park near the entrance of Glacier National Park.

The state Department of Environmental Quality announced approval Monday of the final environmental assessment, allowing plans to build the RV park and cabin village in West Glacier to proceed.

Glacier Park Inc. is planning to construct a park with 25 guest cabins and 102 RV spaces on a 178-acre (72-hectare) development site near the west entrance of the national park.

Flathead County commissioners gave preliminary approval for the project in May 2017 though some area residents raised concerns about additional traffic and impacts to wildlife.

According to the environmental assessment, the water systems will not negatively affect the surrounding environment or wildlife.
