Toddler arrives in Venezuela after being separated from parents when they were deported from US

Police in Bangkok rescued two baby orangutans they said were going to be sold illegally, in a seizure related to international efforts against the multi-billion dollar illicit trade in wildlife. The orangutans were seized Wednesday when police with Thailand’s Central Investigation Bureau arrested the alleged courier for the seller at a gas station in the north of the city, said a police news release. It said the animals were found in a plastic basket, and that the 47-year-old Thai suspect confessed that he had been hired to deliver them to the as-yet unidentified person. He was charged with possession of controlled wildlife without declaring possession to an officer. Police said orangutans are generally sold for 300,000 Thai baht (about $9,000 USD) each.
