Bosch replaces injured Nortje in South Africa’s Champions Trophy squad

JOHANNESBURG, South Africa (AP) — Fast bowling all-rounder Corbin Bosch has replaced the injured Anrich Nortje in South Africa’s squad for the Champions Trophy in Pakistan later this month.

Bosch did well for MI Cape Town en route to the SA20 title on Saturday, claiming 11 wickets in eight matches. He made a forgetful ODI debut against Pakistan last December, finishing with unimpressive figures of 1-69 off his nine overs.

The selectors have also added young fast bowler Kwena Maphaka to the squad as a travelling reserve.

South Africa suffered another injury blow ahead of the Champions Trophy, starting in Karachi on Feb. 19, when Gerald Coetzee was ruled out of the tournament due to a groin problem just before the team left for Pakistan last Wednesday.

Top-order batter Tony de Zorzi, Bosch and Maphaka will leave for Karachi later on Sunday and will be available for selection for South Africa’s last league match in the tri-nation series against Pakistan on Wednesday.
