North Dakota Gov.-elect Burgum announces marriage on web
FARGO, N.D. (AP) — North Dakota will have a first lady when Gov.-elect Doug Burgum is sworn into office on Thursday.
The 60-year-old Fargo businessmen announced his marriage to Kathryn Helgaas of Fargo in a Facebook post on Sunday.
It was no secret that the two were engaged. Burgum said he and Helgaas were married “recently” in a small ceremony with immediate family.
The Republican Burgum defeated Democrat Marvin Nelson and Libertarian Marty Riske in the November election. He’ll succeed Jack Dalrymple in the governor’s office.
